Invisalign Braces Rochester

Beautiful Straight Teeth With Invisalign Braces in Rochester

Invisalign braces are a revolutionary new way to straighten teeth invisibly.

Unlike traditional fixed braces, there are no brackets and metal wires. Instead, Invisalign braces are made of a thin, flexible, transparent plastic that works by sitting over the top of your teeth. You can take these braces out to eat, drink, and brush your teeth.

You will be given a series of these clear Invisalign aligners, which you change on a weekly basis. Each aligner is specifically made for a specific point in time during your treatment and will accommodate the movement in your teeth.

Invisalign braces can treat most orthodontic cases. They can help with:

  • Protruding teeth
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Crooked or mis-aligned teeth
  • Closing gaps
  • Correcting an overbite, underbite, open or crossbite

How Do Invisalign Braces Work?

One of our dentists will first check that you are eligible to have Invisalign treatment. Most patients are suitable, but on the odd occasion where the orthodontic case is too severe, it may mean that a different dental brace is more appropriate.

Next, your teeth will be photographed and X-rayed. A special scanner will be used to take 3D images of your teeth, and this will be used to form your Invisalign treatment plan.

Your Invisalign plan will show how your teeth will move on a weekly basis, and from this, your bespoke Invisalign aligners will be made especially for you. The plan will give you a good idea of how long your treatment will last. Many patients find that they complete their Invisalign treatment within 9 to 12 months.

FAQ's about Invisalign Braces

Are Invisalign braces suitable for everyone?

Our expert dentists will need to assess your teeth and jaws to make sure that you’re suitable for treatment. Most adult patients are suitable for Invisalign braces. On the rare occasions that a patient isn’t suitable for Invisalign treatment, it is usually because they have a severe orthodontic case and would be better suited to a different form of dental brace. Children and young teenagers are not always suitable for Invisalign braces because their teeth are still growing.

How often should I wear my Invisalign braces for?

Invisalign braces are removable, but for your treatment to work you must wear them for at least 22 hours a day. For this reason, we would recommend putting your aligners back into your mouth directly after eating and drinking.

Do I have to take my braces out to eat and drink?

Yes, it is vital that you do this. Your Invisalign aligners are made from a thin plastic so if you eat with them in, you risk breaking them by chewing through them. Eating and drinking with your aligners in would also increase the chance of you getting tooth decay as food and drink stays trapped to your teeth under your Invisalign braces. Similarly, drinking dark coloured drinks like coffee, tea or red wine with your Invisalign braces in means you are more likely to experience heavy staining to your teeth as the liquid would sit against your teeth. You should only drink cold water with your aligners in.
